I think all JLovers would agree that 2011 has been an AMAZING year for Jennifer Lopez! It has been an extremely productive and successful year for her. Since the year is coming to a close, we thought we would take a walk down memory lane and countdown some of our favorite moments of the year!
11. Endorsements
This has been a huge year of endorsements for Jennifer! Her most extensive campaign was with L’Oreal Paris, and she promoted a variety of product lines throughout the world in 2011. These campaign include El Vive Triple Resist, Sublime Mousse, True Match, Color Riche, GlamShine, and Voluminous Lashes commercials, the EverSleek commercial and print ads, and the Infallible Lip Color and ElVive Triple Resist print ads. Jennifer will continue to work with L’Oreal in 2012, so we have more ads to look forward to! Jennifer also promoted the Fiat 500 by Gucci, and appeared in two other commercials for the brand. The first was considered a “teaser” for the Papi music video, while the “official” commercial debuted in October . Jennifer also became Gillette Venus’ Global Ambassador, appearing in print ads and TV commercials. Jennifer was also the face of TOUS this year, and rumor has it that the campaign was so successful, they want her to continue in 2012! Jennifer’s latest campaign is with Harman Kardon. Phew! Are you tired yet? Because there are 10 more moments to go!
10. Love and Light Launch on HSN
In July, Jennifer appeared live on HSN for a total of 6 hours (!) to premiere her latest scent, Love and Light. The appearance was a huge success, with over 51,000 units sold! Throughout the day, Jennifer shared personal stories, discussed the inspiration behind Love and Light and chatted with fans and friends who called in, including her twins, Emme and Max, and Khloe Kardashian. Jennifer’s mom, Lupe, was also on set. and nearly stole the show with her rendition of Jennifer’s On The Floor choreography! 9. Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year
In November, Jennifer was announced as Glamour Magazine’s December cover girl and their “Woman of the Year”! Jennifer was presented with the “All-Star” award at a ceremony last month. She was clearly moved when she accepted her award, and it certainly didn’t hurt that she looked amazing! 8. People’s “Most Beautiful Woman” Cover!
Back in April, Jennifer was named People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman of 2011! This was Jennifer’s 11th appearance on the list, and the first time she graced the cover! Jennifer looked stunning in the photos, which were shot by one of Jennifer’s favorite photographers, Tony Duran. If you missed it at the time, you can check out the article in our magazine archive.
7. Mohegan Sun Concert
The moment every JLo fan has been waiting for – seeing Jennifer in concert! Fans flocked from all over the world to see Jennifer perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena this past October. (It definitely didn’t hurt that we also got exclusive access to a ticket presale and gave a pair of tickets away!) Jennifer put on an amazing show like only she can, performing her classics and latest hits for the sold out crowd. In fact, she even let the fans choose a LOVE? song for her to perform! Fans chose “One Love”, and it became her most buzzed about performance of the night. She gave us a taste, and we are more than ready for a full length world tour! We definitely hope 2012 is her year!
6. Jennifer Lopez Collection at Kohls
Jennifer has always been known for her amazing style, so when we found out she was creating a new clothing line, we were thrilled! The Jennifer Lopez Collection, which is available at Kohls, launched this past September. By all accounts, it has been a great success. Kohls posted a 20% increase in profit for the 3rd quarter, which they partly attributed to Jennifer’s collection. Plus, Jennifer frequently rocks her favorite pieces, so it’s easier than ever to emulate her style.
5. American Idol + Performance
Jennifer took a step in a totally different direction last year when she agreed to join the cast of American Idol. Her big move paid off, however! From her amazing style to her facial expressions, we loved watching every week! A highlight this season was when Jennifer stepped out from behind the judge’s table to show the contestants how it’s done! Her high-energy On The Floor performance was a fan favorite. Breaking glass on stage? Only our girl!
4. LOVE? / Papi / I’m Into You
After much anticipation and being in the works for almost three years , LOVE? finally hit stores in May, debuting at #5 on the Billboard 200. LOVE?, which features tracks produced by RedOne, Tricky Stewart & The Dream, Danja, Stargate, D’Mile and Radio, spawned 3 singles, including one of Jennifer’s biggest hits, On The Floor! Second single, I’m Into You feat. Lil Wayne, peaked at #19 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart while the stunning music video racked up over 100 million views on Youtube/Vevo! Papi, the 3rd single, was released in conjunction with Jennifer’s Fiat ad campaign. The adorably fun video has over 30 million views on Youtube/Vevo and hit #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Club Play Songs Chart! Papi was her 8th consecutive #1 and 11th overall on that chart.
Promo for the album included: a release party at The Grove and Hard Rock in Los Angeles; a performance at American Idol; a European promo tour including a performance at the Wembley Arena for the Capital FM Summertime Ball, a performance at So You Think You Can Dance UK, Wetten Dass, X-Factor France, NRJ Music Tour, Alan Carr; the iHeartradio Music Festival; a performance at the American Music Awards; On The Record with Fuse TV and much more! We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Greatest Hits album in 2012!
3. American Music Award Win & Performance
Following her amazing musical year, Jennifer took home an American Music Award last month for Favorite Latin Artist! The winner was determined by fan vote, making the award even more meaningful! Never one to sit on the sidelines, Jennifer performed not once, but twice! Her first performance was probably our favorite performance of the year! A nearly six minute medley featuring a fake-out, dance break, performers on stilts, three outfit changes, and an appearance by Pitbull! No one could compare to La Lopez!
2. On The Floor
One of the biggest hits of her career! Jennifer blasted her way back onto the charts with her wildly addicting first single. With over 3 million copies sold in the US alone, On The Floor sits solidy at #10 on Billboard’s year-end Digital Songs chart, just under Lady Gaga’s Born This Way. The music video was also a massive success with over 455 million views on Youtube/Vevo. It is the most-watched video this year, and the 2nd most-watched video in Youtube/Vevo’s history! We had a chance to interview Taj, the director of the video back in March, so if you missed that, definitely check it out!
1. Meeting JLovers!
Jennifer took #JLove to a whole new level this year! From interacting with fans on Twitter to meeting or surprising them in person, this was a great year for BBJLovers! Jennifer surprised two of her biggest fans on Good Morning America, took time to meet with two groups of BBJLovers at the American Idol auditions in Pittsburgh, PA and Portland, OR, met with fans who waited outside all day to see her in Chile and Ukraine, held multiple autograph signings, and more! These acts of fan appreciation and graciousness were amazing experiences for the JLovers lucky enough to have the opportunity to participate and heart-warming reads for fellow JLovers!
Can 2012 top 2011? We certainly hope so! We’ve got a lot to look forward to, so we think it will be another huge year!
