I can’t believe I’m writing this article; the time has finally come Jennifer Lopez will get her own Las Vegas residency! So super excited about this!
It was announced on part 1 of American Idol’s finale, last night. Her still-untitled Vegas show will open Jan. 20 at the Axis theater at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino (current home of Britney Spears’ Piece of Me show), where it will continue for more dates across January, February, May and June.
Jennifer already performed in Vegas on New Years Eve, giving her the opportunity to get an idea of how it will be like. It “made me feel more comfortable with the idea of doing something there permanently,” she says. Lopez wants to incorporate all her musical sides into the intimate, dance-heavy affair — from her Latin heritage, to her charts hits to her Jenny from the Block-era material from the early 2000’s.
“There’s a lot of different things over the years people have come to know me as (and) so many different things we can delve into,” Lopez says. She also mentioned that next to her own material she also wants to include other music from the likes of Selena and Celia Cruz. “We haven’t started exactly, but in my mind, I know it’s going to be a multifaceted, high-energy kind of block party.” The development of the show will start next month.
Tickets will go on sale Saturday (1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT). Meet & Greet option is available as an add on to any ticket. It includes a photo opportunity with Jennifer and an autographed special edition JLo poster. For more info go to JLoVegas.com.
Dressed in a custom made Atelier Versace dress Jennifer Lopez stepped out on the MET gala red carpet with Miss Versace herself, Donatella Versace. The theme of this year’s gala was China: Through The Look Of Glass, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night.
The dress is JLo style 100% and fits the theme with the fire-breathing dragon twisting around her body. Donatella mentioned a few days ago she and Jennifer have been collaborating on the superstar’s look for the night: “She got so excited [about the China theme], so we worked together on this dress. She’ll be great from the front, even better from the back.”
Hopefully you tuned in last night to see Jennifer’s beautiful Selena tribute at the Billboard Latin Music Awards! If not, you can catch up here.
Selena’s band Los Dinos joined La Lopez on stage to pay tribute to the Tejano star who died 20 years ago. Jennifer performed a medley of Como La Flor, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, Amor Prohibido, I Could Fall In Love and No Me Queda Mas.
On the red carpet Jennifer wore an all white Zuhair Murad jumpsuit, the stage outfits were designed by Atelier Versace.
