Shades of Blue Renewed!

A bit late, because I was in Vegas to see All I Have, but Shades of Blue has been renewed for a second season! Via NBC’s press release:

“We want to thank Jennifer, who is the hardest working woman we know, for her incredible efforts as both the star and producer of this show, as well as well as our other amazing producers and cast for all their tireless work in creating one of the most compelling dramas on television today,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke. “We’re so excited to find out where this story will lead and have them raise the stakes even higher in what we know will be a fantastic second season.”

In Live +3 results from Nielsen Media Research through its first three telecasts, “Shades of Blue” has averaged a 2.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 11.2 million viewers overall. “Shades of Blue” has delivered NBC’s first Thursday 10-11 p.m. ET time period wins with in-season regular programming over original competition on ABC and CBS since March 2010 in 18-49 and since March 2008 in total viewers.

“Shades of Blue” is also one of the most time-shifted shows on television, with its most recent Live +7 Nielsen results lifting the show by +95% in 18-49 versus its live plus same day rating (from a 1.32 to a 2.57) and by +4.7 million viewers overall (6.6 million to 11.3 million). The +95% gain was the #1 biggest percentage increase for the week of Jan. 11-17 on the Big 4 networks and was the #1 biggest Live +7 percentage lift so far this season for Week 2 of a new series on those nets.

The series and its cast have been critically applauded by several prominent publications, including The New York Times, Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly, Los Angeles Times and TV Guide.

Congrats to Jennifer and the rest of the cast and crew!!

JLo Calls Ryan Seacrest!

Jennifer Lopez called into On Air With Ryan Seacrest this morning to chat about her Vegas residency, All I Have, and her NBC show, Shades of Blue. You can listen to their chat above.

Jennifer had appearances scheduled on Watch What Happens Live and The Wendy Williams Show, but had to reschedule because of the blizzard that hit NYC this weekend. We’ll post new dates when they are announced.

JLo Debuts “All I Have”

After months of rehearsals and preparations, Jennifer Lopez kicked off All I Have, her Las Vegas residency, at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino with a sold out show last night! Jennifer performed many of her hits, including On The Floor, If You Had My Love, Waiting For Tonight, etc. But she also made time for several covers, like Got a Lot o’ Livin’ to Do (Bye Bye Birdie), I Hope You Dance (Le Anne Womack), and Quimbara (Celia Cruz). It was a huge night for Jennifer and she brought three special guests on stage to perform with her: Ja Rule, Ne-Yo, and Pitbull! The hard work paid off, because she received rave reviews! Billboard gave the show 4.5 out of 5 stars, and The Guardian rated it 5 out of 5!

The show, directed by Napoleon Dumo and Tabitha Dumo (aka Nappytabs) features a live five-piece band, 16 dancers, state-of-the-art technology in sets, lighting, video and special effects, and 10 extravagant costume changes! Costumes were designed by Versace, Zuhair Murad, Nicolas Jebran and Lilly e Violetta, and feature nearly 260,000 Swarovski crystals.

The show was celebrity-packed, with the following in attendance: Justin Bieber, Ryan Seacrest, Rebel Wilson, T.I., Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kelly Osbourne, Leah Remini, Gina Rodriguez, Hoda Kotb, Camilla Belle, Wilmer Valderrama, Ryan Guzman, Cheryl Burke, Derek Hough, Nicole Scherzinger, Keenen Ivory Wayans, and her “Shades of Blue” cast including Ray Liotta, Sarah Jeffery, Warren Kole, Santino Fontana, Gino Pesi and Dayo Okeniyi.

Immediately after the show, Jennifer celebrated with an after party at MR CHOW at Caesars Palace. Here’s an interview after the show:

JLo at FOX’s TCA Panel

Jennifer Lopez attended FOX’s Winter TCA panel for American Idol earlier today! Some interesting news came out of that when a reporter asked about it being the “final” season. Jennifer’s fellow judge, Harry Connick Jr, corrected the reporter, saying it is the  “farewell season” of Idol, perhaps indicating that it might not be ending just yet!

Jennifer had this to say about the possibility of more seasons: “You never know. With a format like this that could work at any time, it’s possible. … I haven’t thought about it much, but hypothetically if that happened, American Idol has a special place in my heart, and it’s something I would consider. [I’ll] always be there when they call.”
