JLo Spearheads Disaster Relief Benefit & Performs

Jennifer Lopez spearheaded disaster relief efforts alongside Alex Rodriguez and Marc Anthony, organizing One Voice: Somos Live! A Concert for Disaster Relief, a special benefit concert and telethon. The live event, which aired simultaneously on Univision & Telemundo and at 10 PM began airing on NBC, MTV, BET, VH1 and other channels, raised over $26 million with the help of dozens of celebrities including Ellen Degeneres, Mary J. Blige, Bruno Mars, Demi Lovato, Maroon 5, Ricky Martin, Gwen Stefani, and Stevie Wonder.

Earlier this week, Jennifer told People Magazine, “This is my new full-time job. It’s been crazy, but it’s a passion project. When you want to do something, you can do it! Everybody has stepped up to the plate to help pull this off.”

“Almost Like Praying” for Hurricane Relief

Jennifer Lopez joined Lin Manual Miranda’s new song benefiting hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. The song, called “Almost Like Praying”,  cleverly borrows from “West Side Story”. You can listen to the song and watch the music video above. Download and stream it here because proceeds will benefit The Hispanic Federation‘s UNIDOS Disaster Relief Fund to help meet hurricane-related needs and recovery in Puerto Rico. “Almost Like Praying” will also be featured in a special benefiting hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico, set to air commercial-free this Saturday, October 7th on Telemundo. The television special will see appearances from all of the participating artists appearing on the track, as well as an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the single’s creation.

As previously mentioned, Jennifer is also spearheading The Somos Una Voz Alliance, which has raised over $500,000 on GoFundMe. She will also perform live at the TIDAL X Benefit in Brooklyn benefit on October 17.

Jennifer Lopez Donates $1 million to Hurricane Relief Efforts in Puerto Rico

Jennifer Lopez joined New York governor Andrew Cuomo in a press conference earlier today to announce she is donating $1 million from the proceeds of her Las Vegas show, All I Have, to aid hurricane relief in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

The press conference was live-streamed, so you can watch it below. Jennifer started in Spanish at 12:02 and then repeated her speech in English at 16:36:

Jennifer said that she still hasn’t heard any from family members in Puerto Rico. She and Alex Rodriguez are using all of their resources and relationships in their respective industries to garner support for the relief effort. With Marc Anthony, they are spearheading additional relief efforts and organizing the Latin community’s efforts.

Telemundo announced that Jennifer Lopez and other top Latin music stars will join “Todos Unidos” (All Together), the network’s television special hosted by international media icon, Don Francisco, airing this Sunday, September 24 from 7-11 pm / 6-10 CT, in support of the victims of the recent natural disasters in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Texas and Florida. The live broadcast to be produced from Miami, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Houston and Los Angeles and airing simultaneously across Telemundo, the cable network Universo and the Telemundo Internacional Cable Channel in Mexico, will feature performances by Chyno, Elvis Crespo, Luis Fonsi, Ricardo Montaner, Ednita Nazario, Justin Quiles, Roberto Tapia, Noel Torres and Yuri.
