Jennifer Lopez attended the Golden Globe Awards last night! Sadly, she did not take home the award for Best Supporting Actress, but I’m still so proud of her and all she’s accomplished so far this awards season!
Jennifer Lopez was announced as one of PEOPLE Magazine’s People of the Year! Jennifer is featured on the cover of the magazine and shares the honor with Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Aniston.
Jennifer Lopez out-J.Lo’ed herself this year. The multifaceted megastar took her game to a whole new level in 2019 and enjoyed a dizzying series of career highs, from a hit “It’s My Party” tour to an Oscar buzz-worthy performance in Hustlers to landing the coveted Super Bowl halftime show gig.
The Envelope from The Los Angeles Times gathered five actresses: Jennifer Lopez, Cynthia Erivo, Nora Lum (Awkwafina), Charlize Theron and Renée Zellweger at the end of October to talk about their films, their working lives and the future as it looks to them. Jennifer Lopez graces the cover of GQ’s annual Men of the Year issue as their 2019 Icon of the Year! She was interviewed by Jessica Pressler, who conducted the interview Hustlers was based on. Here’s an excerpt:
You have been through so much in your career, like there was that whole early-2000s “She’s a diva” thing. Now that we are in this period of sort of increased awareness of that, do you ever have moments where you look back and you’re like, “Wow, that was sexist or racist”—or otherwise, you know, fucked-up?
For sure. Because I was Latin, and I was a woman, and I was Puerto Rican, and they were not giving me the same pass that they gave everybody else at certain times. It’s hard to remember specifics. I wish I could. But honestly, I don’t like to harp on the negative or feel sorry for myself. You know, it, it just is what it is. There were moments in my life where it got to me more. Where it kind of took me down for a second. But it never took me down for very long. The energy was always in just getting better, doing more growing, and driving myself. To be better, all the time. And creating more opportunities for myself. Just, be resilient. They’ll give up.

Jennifer Lopez has been extremely busy promoting her new movie, Hustlers! Hustlers has been doing extremely well so far. It is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with the following critic’s consensus: “Led by a career-best performance from Jennifer Lopez, Hustlers is a uniquely empowering heist drama with depth and intelligence to match its striking visual appeal.” It is also doing very well at the box office, with projections now calling for a $32 million opening weekend (a record for both Jennifer (in live action films) and STXfilms).
