Jennifer Lopez Covers Vanity Fair & W

Jennifer Lopez joined Renee Zellweger and Eddie Murphy on the cover of Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood issue. In her interview, Jennifer revealed the movie she regrets not taking, the inspiration behind her famous pole dance, and how the famous jungle dress feels 20 years later.

Jennifer also covered W Magazine’s Best Performances issue:

“I was a little nervous about doing this movie because I had never played someone this dark or complicated. I liked that Ramona, the character I play, and the other strippers were looked at as equals to their patrons, the guys on Wall Street. Ramona reminded me of that girlfriend we all have who is exciting but can also get you into trouble. You always miss that friend when she’s gone, but when you get together, you worry you might find yourself in some crazy situation. That’s Ramona.”

JLo Named GQ’s Icon of The Year!

Jennifer Lopez graces the cover of GQ’s annual Men of the Year issue as their 2019 Icon of the Year! She was interviewed by Jessica Pressler, who conducted the interview Hustlers was based on. Here’s an excerpt:

You have been through so much in your career, like there was that whole early-2000s “She’s a diva” thing. Now that we are in this period of sort of increased awareness of that, do you ever have moments where you look back and you’re like, “Wow, that was sexist or racist”—or otherwise, you know, fucked-up?

For sure. Because I was Latin, and I was a woman, and I was Puerto Rican, and they were not giving me the same pass that they gave everybody else at certain times. It’s hard to remember specifics. I wish I could. But honestly, I don’t like to harp on the negative or feel sorry for myself. You know, it, it just is what it is. There were moments in my life where it got to me more. Where it kind of took me down for a second. But it never took me down for very long. The energy was always in just getting better, doing more growing, and driving myself. To be better, all the time. And creating more opportunities for myself. Just, be resilient. They’ll give up.

In fact, Lopez is still looking for ways to expand her reach. She’s thinking about directing her first movie with the upcoming drama “The Godmother,” in which she has the lead role, for STX Entertainment. “To star and direct is going to take a year or two out of my life,” says Lopez with a hint of dread. “I just need to be ready to do that.” And she’s recording new music for her next vehicle, “Marry Me,” a Universal Pictures comedy about a pop star who has to navigate fame in the social-media age.
