2010 has been a very busy year for La Lopez! She released her first feature film since the birth of her twins, worked on her upcoming album with top producers, launched a new fragrance, performed around the world, joined a hit show, launched her charitable foundation, and a million other things!
It was really hard to choose and narrow them down, but here are my top 10 Jennifer Lopez moments of 2010!
10. Gucci Ad
In case you missed it, Jennifer and her twins, Emme and Max, became the stars of Gucci’s children’s collection. The ads are beautiful and also benefit a great cause. Gucci donated $1 million to UNICEF and $50,000 to Jennifer’s charity, The Maribel Foundation.
9. MTV Movie Awards performance w/ Tom Cruise
This was a great moment! Jennifer performed with Tom Cruise’s “Tropic Thunder” alter-ego, Les Grossman. She killed it with her “Get Right” cane routine, and the pair received a standing ovation. Twitter and the blogosphere immediately blew up and this surprise performance stole the show!
8. Appearance on SNL
Jennifer appeared on Saturday Night Live in February to promote her film, The Back-up Plan. Not only did she participate in nearly every single skit, but she also performed TWO new songs!
7. World Music Awards
This year, Jennifer was named “Legend for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts” at the WMAs. She proved exactly why she deserved the honor with a nearly 7 minute performance of all of her greatest hits.
6. Love and Glamour
Jennifer was also busy developing a new fragrance this year! Not only did she help create the fragrance, but she starred in the (stunning) ad campaign, as well. Jennifer also appeared in NYC on Fashion’s Night Out and posed for pictures with fans. Love and Glamour was released October 1st and is available at Macy’s and on HSN.com.
5. Launches The Maribel Foundation in PR
Jennifer has been talking about her foundation for years, and this year, she and sister Lynda Lopez, were finally able to officially launch The Maribel Foundation in Puerto Rico. Jennifer and Lynda visited with sick children at a pediatric hospital and also announced the launch of their first telemedicine program in conjunction with the Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles. The program will help improve the care and treatment young patients receive at the hospital.
4. Surprise Appearance on Lopez Tonight
Jennifer’s surprise appearance on Lopez Tonight was a great moments for her and for fans alike. She earned rave reviews when she hijacked George Lopez’s show and delivered a hilarious stand-up routine. Sadly, as you’ll see in our top moment of the year, she probably won’t do anything like this again. Good thing we have Youtube!
3. The Back-up Plan Released
JLo’s latest film, The Back-up Plan, was released on April 23, 2010. It was Jennifer’s first film since 2007’s El Cantante, so it was definitely exciting to see her back on the big screen! The film debuted at #1 on Friday, and then settled at #2 for a weekend haul of $12.2 million. It is currently out on DVD, so make sure you pick it up!
2. American Idol Announcement
Whether you agree with her decision to join the show, or not, this was one of the biggest stories of the year. “Will she or won’t she?” speculation went on for months until it was officially announced to the world on September 22 in Los Angeles. Early reviews have been very positive, so I am crossing my fingers for her! American Idol premieres January 19 on Fox.
1. Jen’s Interview With The Fans
Of course, I am biased, but this was a great opportunity for all of Jen’s fans. It ranks very high on my personal top moments of 2010 list, so it has to be #1 on my JLo list! Jennifer graciously let us interview her and frankly discussed everything from her split with Sony to why she’d never do stand up comedy again. She even recorded a special message for her fans!
Do you agree with my Top 10? Let us know your thoughts on Beyond Beautiful. Cheers to all of you and thank you for all of your support this year! We hope you have a GREAT new year! And, of course, we are all looking forward to JLo Domination in 2011!
